Car maker Jaguar Land Rover is to create 700 new jobs at its unfinished engine factory near Wolverhampton.

It had already released plans to create 700 posts at the plant, but increased demand has led it to double this figure.

The company saw sales soar 30% to 357,773 vehicles last year, helped by the new small Evoque model.

The Tata-owned company's new engine plant will open in 2015.

JLR boss Dr Ralf Speth said: “Jaguar Land Rover’s new engine manufacturing centre in the UK is a clear demonstration of our business strategy guiding our investment plans.
