Controversial company A4e has been found guilty of racial discrimination by an employment tribunal.

A4e dismissed Rohim Ullah from its Bradford office in 2011 for failing to follow proper procedures, while two white managers accused of the same thing were kept on.

One of those managers also said of an Iraqi client that he should "f*** off back to his own country", but he was not subject to the same standard of investigation.

Cable backs capping unfair dismissal payouts

Fri, 14/09/2012 - 11:08 -- nick

Business Secretary Vince Cable will propose that workers face a cut in how much they can win for unfair dismissal at employment tribunals.

He will consult on plans to cut the limit on unfair dismissal payouts to a maximum of 12 months' salary.

He will also propose settlement agreements, in which staff agree to leave without being able to go to a tribunal, but get a pay-off in return.

But proposals to make it easier simply to fire workers will not be made law.
