'Robin Hood' Labour to take from bankers and give to young jobless

The Labour party has announced a plan to tax bankers' bonuses to pay for a job guarantee for young unemployed people.

The party wants to have its cake and eat it though; a job would be provided to all under-25s who had been unemployed for more than a year, but the would lose benefits if they turned it down.

The language of 'guarantees' versus ' compulsory' mean it is not clear whether Miliband and Balls are pro- or anti-unemployed.

IDS to face MPs to account for his Universal Credit failings

Under-fire Work and Pensions Secretary Ian Duncan Smith will finally face a committee of MPs this afternoon to account for his failures on the Universal Credit system.

In advance of this he gave an interview to The Financial Times in which he said he took "complete responsibility ... from start to finish" for the issues affecting the scheme.

New BBC show will see taxpayers live on benefits

This question will be asked by a new BBC 1 show - We All Pay Your Benefits - to be broadcast tomorrow at 9.00 pm, which sees The Apprentice's Nick Hewer and Margaret Mountford challenge four employed people to live on unemployment benefits to try to get a better undestanding of the problems it brings.
