Welcome to the first blog for UnemployedNet’s site. We will be writing every now and again on the development of the site, the coverage we are receiving and your feedback, and hope you’ll check in with us to find out how UnemployedNet is going. If you want to know more about what we stand for and want to achieve, please take a look at our guide - http://unemployednet.org/letterfromtheeditor
We launched the site on 5th July 2012 with the aim of becoming ‘the homepage for the unemployed’. There is a gap in services for unemployed and economically inactive people online; no site exists that aims to provide all the support you need to get work, cope with the challenges of a low income, talk to people in the same situation, live better, stay healthy and develop your skills and abilities. UnemployedNet aims to fill that gap.
Through an early partnership with Mace Sustain, the sustainability and community regeneration company, we are currently piloting the site. Mace Sustain is linking us up with their unemployed clients (they provide unemployment support and get people in to jobs), and these clients are feeding information through to us on the things they like and don’t like about the site, what they find easy to use and what is difficult, and what they’d like to see that isn’t there now.
When we have more information on the site we’ll let you know, but in the meantime if you have any suggestions on the site please let us know through the comments below.
