The government is expanding its young people's business start-up loan scheme through the Start-Up Loans Company.

The scheme had previously been open to those aged 16-24, but it is being extended to include 25-30 year olds.

The total funding available will rise from £82m to £112m, ensuring the older borrowers will have their needs met.

The scheme has lent out only £1.5m to date, despite the scheme being announced in May 2012, although it will run until April 2015.

It is hoped that 100,000 jobs will be created.

33,000 more jobseekers are to be provided with places on the government's New Enterprise Allowance scheme.

The scheme, which provides expert coaching and financial support, will be extended and made far easier to access, in a bid to get behind those who have the determination to start up their own business.

People will now have instant access to support when they claim Jobseekers Allowance, ending the six month long wait people have to currently spend on benefits before they qualify for start-up money.
