Argos is to employ 12,000 additional temporary staff to help it deal with the Christmas rush. It currently employs 25,000 across the UK.
The jobs will be for three months with the option of a one month extension, but the company has said that some may become permanent if opportunities become available.
Managing director John Walden said: “Christmas is our busiest period of the year so we always need extra help in our stores.
"We’re looking to take on passionate and enthusiastic staff.”
The company is banking on good Christmas trading to help it achieve its sales targets for the year.
